ghost pattern development

Something I have been working on today, playing around with line quality and patterns. Inspired by toile de juoy patterns and how they link illustrations together with decorative elements.

little ghosts

Part of a series I am thinking of screen printing and making into a little book!

Bottom one is my favourite I think, may try and make them look a little happier from now on!

Zen brush fashion drawings

Doodling at the V&A Ballgowns exhibit. I really like zen brush, just cos it looks very inky and Japanese!

Jessica and the Rabbits Poster

Bit of work I did over the weekend for Plymouth band Jessica and the Rabbits. They wanted some artwork to advertise their shows so I obliged in exchange for a free show ticket and some drinks :)

Quite enjoyed this. I used some newly learnt illustrator skills to create the lines and gradient in the background. I also used a colour palette app which takes a photo and creates 5 colours from it that work together.

Putting work into context

This is a task I really enjoyed. We had to Photoshop our work onto different surfaces to see how it would work in different contexts. I kinda really want the watch and shoes!

Illustration friday

So I spent most of today doing an illustration/pattern for Illustration Friday. The theme this week was "book", I was just going to be boring and submit some kind of pattern with lots of books in but then I remembered a photo I had from a stunt show I went to in Boston and adapted it into this!

The original photo was a guy on a bed of nails in a mask with a cinder block on top of him, I added a stack of books on top of the cinder block and then had some fun with the patterns around it.
