Long lake work

Finally able to scan these in. I did a lot more ink and watercolour work due to the lack of scanners and the fact that Anna had a table full of batik dyes at the next table-so much fun to paint with!

Some very tiny things

From when I was sat on a rock by the lake on one of my days off...

Prismacolours are fun

I ended up having to be pretty lame and have rules for the prismacolours because all the kids would leave the lids off and leave them everywhere which made me sad because they were such pretty colours! I don't usually use colour unless it is digital but here are a few sketches.

No idea why I was drawing a watermelon... I think it was in a book and I had no children or something!

Blog shame

I hate not being able to blog for such a long time! I got back from America on monday, finished camp and had 3 weeks of travel. I meant to do a lot more drawing in that time but in the end I just went to some amazing galleries and took a lot of photos.

This is just an interim post because I am bored and still at home with no scanner, expect to see lots of posts next week when I can scan in and edit all of my camp drawings, very excited for that :) In the meantime here is a photo I just found of me teaching Julie, a girl who did an awesome anime drawing that ended up being around 10ft long, this is us piecing it together!

ink and bleach day!

So I discovered last week that you can use batik dyes for painting, I also discovered that using bleach on top looks a-mazing! For two days I had a desk full of paper cups with dye I stole from Anna ;) along with lots of bleach and watercolour paper.

The kids loved it and I ended up doing a few myself because I love how colourful they come out and how unpredictable the medium is.

Some of the kids work.

And here's some of mine for fun :)

One of the diamonds is for Anna's birthday because I can't afford real ones on camp wages!

What I wouldn't give for easy access to a scanner so I could edit these properly...

america sketchbook so far!!

So it has been absolutely crazy here at Long Lake, I teach illustration 6 hours a day and the rest of the time is spent looking after the kids from 7.30-10.00 in the evening! Pretty mental to be honest. I have one free period a day to chill out so I have done a few sketches, I also did a really big one of the whole of camp to make into a batik for the kids to colour! The batik came out kinda crazy coloured and not too great but I liked the drawing so I will be scanning it in to colour when I get home :)

They have tonnes of prismacolour markers here (basically promarkers) which I have decided I quite like! Kids keep leaving the lids off all of them though so they keep getting thrown away, makes me sad :(
